Traveling to Lexington for the 2026 KHSAA Team Tennis State Championships, Daviess County’s girls’ team and Owensboro Catholic’s boys team made quick work of their opponents to advance to Friday’s semi-finals round.
“I am very proud of the girls today. I believe this is the first time in DC history the girls have made it to the semis,” Daviess County Head Coach Dylan McDuffee said. “They all played so well today. Our doubles dominated today and only lost a couple games. Our singles fourth hard today and in the second match, Lyla Grace came back from down 5-0 to win the set 7-6. We are ready to take on South Warren for a chance at the finals.”
The Lady Panthers recorded back-to-back 3-0 wins against Madisonville-North Hopkins and Ashland Blazer, while the Aces beat both Bourbon County and Corbin 3-0. Awaiting Owensboro Catholic in the semi-finals of the boys’ competition is Covington Catholic, while the Lady Panthers will have a rematch with South Warren.
“The boys did a really good job holding down their courts today. We survived day one but tomorrow is the real test,” Owensboro Catholic boys Head Coach Branden Haines said. “We have Covington Catholic who is attempting to four peat. We played them earlier this year and got them on the right day. Every court will be competitive and razor thing, but that is exactly how we want it. We have been here before and the boys will be ready. They love to compete and they love this environment.”
