A new Dollar General store is coming to KY 144 in Knottsville, with construction permits issued and development moving forward.
According to records from the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission, a 1.653-acre parcel at 9340 KY 144 was created in February, followed by approval of a Final Development Plan in early March for a retail sales business. Project documents identify the development as a Dollar General store.
A building permit issued April 27 shows plans for a 10,640-square-foot retail building, classified as mercantile use, with an estimated construction cost of $1.38 million. The site is zoned B-4 (highway business) and is not located within a floodplain.
A separate mechanical permit issued May 5 covers installation of the store’s HVAC system, and the document further confirmed the project as a Dollar General location.
Site plans indicate a standard layout for the national discount retailer, including a single-story building and on-site parking.
No construction timeline has been publicly announced, but groundwork on the site is already underway.
