The Green River Area Development District (GRADD) will mark Older Americans Month throughout May with a series of community events and health fairs across the region.
Observed nationally by the Administration for Community Living, Older Americans Month recognizes the contributions of older adults while promoting resources that support healthy aging. The 2026 theme, “Champion Your Health,” emphasizes preventive care, personal wellness, and maintaining independence.
“‘Champion Your Health’ is about empowering older adults to take an active role in their well-being while knowing they have a strong support system around them,” said GRADD Community Services Manager Amber Gebhard. “Our senior centers are here to provide the resources, education, and connections that help individuals stay healthy, engaged, and independent.”
Senior centers across the GRADD district will host celebrations featuring entertainment, social activities, and opportunities to connect with local resources. Most events will take place at local senior centers, with the exception of Webster County’s event, which will be held at Canaan Ridge Park.
