LEAP Services will host a free Mental Health Resource Fair on May 16 in Owensboro as part of Mental Health Awareness Month, bringing together community organizations, support professionals, and local leaders to promote awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon at LEAP Services, located at 1858 Triplett Street.

According to organizers, the fair is designed to create a welcoming environment where individuals and families can connect with mental health professionals, learn about available services, and explore local wellness and support resources.

Participating organizations include Owensboro Health, RiverValley Behavioral Health, Audubon Area Community Care Clinic, The Center, GRADD, United Way of the Ohio Valley, Opportunity Center, Welcome House, Spero Health, New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services, and several other community agencies.

Attendees will also hear a special video message from the Governor’s Office addressing Kentucky’s ongoing mental health crisis. In addition, the City of Owensboro has officially proclaimed May 16 as Mental Health Awareness Day, and city officials are expected to speak during the event about the importance of collaboration and expanding access to mental health resources.

“At LEAP Services, we believe that open dialogue is the first step toward healing and understanding,” said Teresa Thomas of LEAP Services. “This event is about creating a safe environment where people feel seen, heard, and supported. By coming together as a community, we can help reduce stigma and encourage individuals to seek the help they deserve.”

Organizers said the event reflects LEAP Services’ ongoing commitment to addressing gaps in mental health care while strengthening community support systems throughout the region.

Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend. The event is free and open to the public.
