The Fraternal Order of Police Kentucky Lodge 16 will host its 39th Annual Police Memorial Service on May 21 at Abundant Life Church, honoring officers who died in the line of duty.

The service is scheduled for 6 p.m. and is open to the public.

According to preliminary data from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 111 federal, state, county, and municipal officers died in the line of duty in 2025. Organizers said that number represents a 25% decrease from the previous year.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Brenda Tiffany, the mother of fallen Cameron Ponder. Ponder, a trooper with the Kentucky State Police, was fatally shot following a pursuit on Sept. 13, 2015.

Since her son’s death, Tiffany has worked with organizations including Spirit of Blue, Law Enforcement United, and the Kentucky, Tennessee, and Gulf Coast Brotherhoods to advocate for officer safety.

“We host this service so our community can join our Brotherhood for a night dedicated to honoring the sacrifice made by officers like Cameron,” organizers said in a release.

The event will take place at Abundant Life Church, located at 6601 US 231 in Utica.
