Brody Brubaker drove in three runs, and Porter Hay threw a complete game on the mound as the Owensboro Bombers took care of Newburgh Post 8-2. Brubaker led off with the game with a double and quickly scored on an Eli Hampton single.
An inning later, Brubaker continued his torrid stretch at the plate, crushing a bases-loaded double to push the Bombers’ lead to 4-0. In the bottom of the inning, Newburgh Post cut the lead to 8-2 thanks to Easton Jahn’s two-run single. From there, Hay shut the door on Newburgh Post, holding them to three total runners and recording seven of his eight total strikeouts.
The Bombers padded their lead in the fourth with Jake Murphy’s RBI single and then iced the game in the seventh. Facing the bases loaded with no outs, Brady Benjamin and Eli Hatfield delivered a pair of singles to push the lead to 8-2.
The Bombers are back in action later tonight when they host Funkhouser at 6:30 p.m.
