The Brescia University basketball teams lost both ends of a conference doubleheader on the road against Asbury College. The women came up short 76-60 after falling behind in the second quarter, while the men nearly mounted a comeback before taking a 78-74 loss.

MEN
Kayode Daboiku scored 18 points and had 17 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough after the Bearcats (12-10, 9-4) trailed 48-36 at halftime.

Noah Cunningham finished with a team-high 20 points, Tristen Murray added 16 and Dillon Geralds finished with 10.

After leading the West Division of the conference for a few weeks, Brescia drops into a three-way tie for second place. They’ve lost to both IU Southeast and Asbury, the other two teams in the tie.

WOMEN
The Lady Bearcats (7-16, 5-7) were tied 16-16 after the first quarter but trailed by 11 points at the break.

Catherine Dunn, Cassidy Moss and Hallie Fisher all finished with 10 points. Moss had 7 rebounds and Fisher grabbed 6.

Brescia outscored Abury by one in the third before the Eagles pulled away in the final quarter. Asbury hit 20-of-25 free throws to help maintain a lead down the stretch.
