OHS splits doubleheader; Lady Devils fall in final second

The Owensboro basketball teams split a home doubleheader against Grayson County on Tuesday. While the boys cruised to a 60-34 win, the girls suffered a 53-52 loss on a last-second shot.

Following a 12-point lead at the half, the Red Devils (10-6) pulled away from the Cougars (7-12) after the break to earn their third victory in a row. No individual stats were available.

The Lady Devils (7-10) played from behind for most of the game before taking a lead in the fourth quarter. A putback and-1 in the final second allowed the Lady Cougars (10-8) to escape with a victory.

Amaya Curry led the Lady Devils with 13 points, Mykael Winstead added 11 and Nia Gonzo had 10.

Both Owensboro teams return home Friday to host 9th District foe Daviess County in a doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m.
