The Brescia University men’s basketball team wasn’t able to mount a comeback, falling 99-87 to No. 4 WVU Tech on Wednesday in the opening round of the River States Conference Championship.

The Bearcats (15-14) trailed 51-36 at the half and were only able to slightly trim the deficit over the second period.

A day after they were named to the All-RSC Teams, Dillon Geralds and Kayode Daboiku led the scoring effort for Brescia. Geralds scored 24 and added 12 rebounds, while Daboiku added 20 points and 8 boards.

Damontae Barnhill finished with 16 points, and Tristen Murray had 15 points off five 3-pointers. Other scorers were Zach McDaniel (5), Darion Morrow (5) and Jalen Rose (2).

With the loss, Brescia ends a season filled with highlights. During a five-game win streak, the Bearcats beat then-No. 11 WVU Tech and sat atop the conference standings, and they received votes nationally for the Top 25 poll.

Brescia only loses three players to graduation, so plenty of returning talent could set up for another strong season.
