The Aces (1-0) scored a run in the first and second frames and capitalized on three errors by the Mustangs (0-1) to open with a win.

In five innings for Catholic, Hunter Small gave up one hit and struck out seven batters, and Luke Scales closed out the last two innings with five strikeouts.

Small had the lone RBI, while Sam McFarland, Luke Evans and Alex Castlen each crossed the plate for a run. Evans had two hits.

Breckinridge County 6, Apollo 3
The Eagles (0-1) fought back from a three-run deficit, but the Tigers (1-0) tacked on three in the top of the seventh to spoil the home opener in Mason Head’s first game as head coach for Apollo.

The Tigers plated three in the first inning, and Apollo answered with one run in the bottom of the frame before getting two more in the sixth.

Josh Maddox (3-4) led the way at the plate and had a double for the Eagles. Tanner Klee, Max Holder and Noah Stewart each scored a run, while Stewart and Griffin Heavrin got an RBI a piece.

For Breckinridge County, starting pitcher Preston Cottrell struck out 13 batters through 6.2 innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs. Jacob Ball and Kaeveon Mitchell had doubles.

Henderson County 11, Daviess County 1
The Panthers (0-1) couldn’t get much going, finishing with just two hits while also committing five errors against the Colonels (1-0). Henderson County got four runs each in the third and fifth innings.

Daviess County starting pitcher Jameson Arnold struck out four batters through three innings but gave up five unearned runs. For the Colonels, Bryce Willett pitched a complete game with two hits and 11 strikeouts.

Leadoff man Nolan Boswell scored the lone run for the Panthers in the first inning, while Jack Gibson and Austin Curtis collected a hit a piece.

Hancock County 4, Owensboro 2
The Red Devils (0-1) dropped the season opener at home to the Hornets (1-0) despite a complete game on the mound by Corey Gibson, who gave up just five hits while also striking out five.

Trace Grenier and Eric Epperson each got a double and scored a run for Owensboro, while Tucker Hagan recorded the other hit.

Dylan O-Bryan got the win in a complete game for Hancock County.
