Union County 3, Owensboro 0
The Red Devils (0-2) couldn’t break through against the Braves (1-0) at home, and Union County took advantage of three Owensboro errors to score late.

Ethan Gibson went five innings for the Devils, giving up only three hits and a run while striking out 12 batters. Trace Grenier struck out another four in two innings.

Five different players got hits for Owensboro but they weren’t able to push a run across. Union County’s Riley Jones got the win, giving up a single hit over the final three innings.

Hancock County 4, Owensboro Catholic 2
The Aces (1-1) plated two in the sixth inning but it wasn’t enough in a home loss to the Hornets (2-0), who scored two runs each in the second and fifth frames.

Parker Newby went the distance on the mound for Hancock County, striking out 11 and giving up 6 hits. For Catholic, Sam McFarland went four innings and took the loss, while Everett Munsey closed out the final three innings. The duo each gave up four hits and combined for seven strikeouts.

Luke Scales got a pair of hits and scored a run to lead the offense. Luke Evans also scored, while Andrew Wiman and Hunter Small each picked up an RBI. Braden Mundy had a double.

Warren Central 7, Trinity 6
Each team had a three-run inning in a close game, but the Raiders (0-1) fell short against the Dragons (2-0) on the road.

The teams each scored once in the first inning, and Warren Central went up 4-2 after the third. Trinity answered with three runs before the Dragons tied the game at 5 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Warren Central added two more in the fifth, and Trinity only scored once more in the seventh.

The Raider offense was led by Owen Payne (2-4, RBI), Kevin Foster (2-4, 2 RBIs), Landon Huff (2 runs, RBI) and Gavin Howard (2 runs, RBI).
