Thursday’s games:
• Panthers use late rally to get past Tigers
• OHS offense rolls in win over Meade County
• OCHS shuts down McLean County on road

Daviess County 8, Breckinridge County 6
The Panthers (1-1) fell behind early but used a five-run fifth inning to get past the Tigers (2-1) at home and pick up their first win. Daviess County was outhit seven to four but capitalized on a pair of errors by Breckinridge County.

The Tigers got a pair of runs each in the second and third innings, but the Panthers hung close and trailed 5-3 after four. After Daviess County went ahead, Breckinridge County added one run in the sixth but could get no closer.

Nolan Boswell pitched the final 3.2 innings and picked up the win, while Jacob Ball took the loss. Cole Troutman led the Panthers’ offense, going 2-for-4 with a run and RBI. Jameson Arnold got a double and scored once.

Owensboro 9, Meade County 3
The Red Devils (1-2) got 16 hits and a pair of three-run innings to sink the Green Wave (1-2) on the road to earn their first win. Isaac Humphrey went 5.0 innings and struck out five in the win.

Owensboro got on the board with a run in the first and added three in the third for a 4-1 lead. They scored two more in the fifth and three in the sixth to pull away.

Brennon Williams (2 triples, 3 runs, 2 RBIs) and Nick Belcher (2 doubles, 2 runs, RBI) both went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the OHS offense.

Braxton French, Trace Grenier and Austin Gough all recorded two hits. Andrew Chancellor led with three RBIs, and Humphrey had two. Humphrey had a triple, and French had one double.

Owensboro Catholic 5, McLean County 1
Winning pitcher Mason Grant gave up a single hit and the Aces (2-1) plated four runs in the fifth inning to pick up a road victory over the Cougars (1-2).

Grant gave up nine walks but limited the damage, also striking out nine in 5.2 innings of work. Losing pitcher Peyton Caraway gave up four runs (two unearned) and struck out seven.

Andrew Wiman had two RBIs for the Aces. Wiman, Sam McFarland, Luke Scales and Luke Evans each recorded a hit and scored a run.

McLean County scored their only run in the first inning, and Catholic added one in the seventh.
