For the first time since the 2012-13 season, the Kentucky Wesleyan College women’s basketball has earned a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament. The Panthers are slotted No. 8 in the Midwest Region after receiving an at-large bid for their third NCAA appearance in program history.

Wesleyan will take on the host and No. 1 seed Drury University in a rematch of their season opener on Friday. Drury is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation after boasting a 31-0 record and winning the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship on Sunday afternoon.

The Panthers already have a historic season under their belt, posting a program record 24 wins in a single season, including a 22-6 mark in the regular season along with a program best 15-game winning streak.

For the first time in program history, Wesleyan went undefeated at the Owensboro Sportscenter with a perfect 16-0 record including one postseason game at home. The Panthers boast a 17-game home win streak dating back to last season, which is also a program record.

Wesleyan had a strong Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinal and semifinal, winning both games by a combined 61 points. The Panthers posted 19 double-digit wins on the season.

The G-MAC has two teams represented in this year’s regional. Tournament champion Walsh University is the No. 7 seed and will take on the No. 2 seed Lewis University.
