The Owensboro Catholic girls’ track and field team brought home their first-ever Class A title at the KTCCCA Indoor State Championships, held Saturday in Maysville. Their 108.5 total points was just enough to edge out perennial powerhouse St. Henry District, who scored 108 points.
The boys’ team took third place with 60.5 points, finishing behind Bishop Brossart (84 points) and St. Henry District (75 points).
The girls’ team took first place in the 4×800 Relay and second in the 4×400 Relay. Individual first-place finishers were Alexandra Scheithe (3000 Meter Run), Mary Mills (Triple Jump), Caitlin Gillihan (Pole Vault) and Faith Hogg (Shot Put).
They also had second-place finishers in Genarose Jones (55 Meter Dash) and Kara Morris (800 Meter Run), as well as third-place results by Scheithe (1600 Meter Run) and Kaylee Morris (3000 Meter Run).
For the boys, Austin Stallings finished first in both the 800 and 1600 Meter Run, while John Cason took third and second in those events, respectively. Noah Todd took second place in Shot Put.
