The Owensboro Times is announcing its 2019 All-County Girls’ Basketball Teams, featuring players from Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic and Trinity. All results are based on voting by the coaches of the five high schools at the conclusion of the regular season.
Below are the Player and Coach of the Year, as well as the full rosters for our First, Second and Honorable Mention teams.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Hannah McKay, Owensboro Catholic — Read full story here.
McKay was part of a versatile offense and finished as the team’s leading scorer (13.6 points per game) and rebounder (6.7 per game). A speedy big for the Lady Aces, she was able to create opportunities on defense that turned into quick scores. She was also named the MVP after Catholic won the All “A” Classic state tournament.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Michael Robertson, Owensboro Catholic
Robertson knew as defending 3rd Region champs, the bullseye would be on their back all year. He still helped make sure Catholic was ready for every game, and the Lady Aces finished 17-0 against region opponents with double-digit in each game. Robertson stressed to his team the importance of being unselfish and playing for each other, and it worked. In addition to winning a third All “A” title, Catholic also earned their third trip in four years to the state tournament.
