Owensboro Catholic 12, Mater Dei (Evansville) 5

After falling behind by two runs, the Lady Aces (1-0) got rolling and scored four in the third inning and five in the sixth en route to a big home win to open their season.

Catholic tied the game in the second with two runs and also scored one in the fourth inning. Mater Dei added one in the seventh. Both teams had three errors.

Hadley Phelps went 6.1 innings to pick up the win, giving up six hits and allowing four runs (three unearned). Allie Goodin gave up 11 runs (one unearned) in 5.1 innings in the loss.

The Catholic offense finished with 13 hits and was led by Bailey Simone (3-4, 3 runs, 2 RBIs), Isabella Henning (2-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs) and Taylor Dukate (3 RBIs). Dukate, Sarah Hayden and Danielle Henning each had a double.

Apollo 18, Muhlenberg County 2 (4 innings)
The E-Gals (1-0) opened the season with a dominant victory over the Lady Mustangs (0-2) on the road. Apollo took a 3-2 lead after the first inning then pulled away with ease. They scored two in the second and one in the third before plating 12 to end the game in the fourth inning.

The E-Gals finished with 19 hits, four of which came from Lauren Whitehouse. Keely Eans hit a three-run homer to go along with a double and a single, while Abbie Gore and Madison Shemwell each had two doubles of their own.

Eans picked up the win and Madison Julian pitched an inning of relief.

Ohio County 17, Owensboro 6 (5 innings)
The Lady Devils (0-1) started solid but fell in their home opener after the Lady Eagles scored nine runs in the third inning and added six in the fourth to pull away for a win.

Kaylyn Sowders led the Owensboro offense, going 2-2 with 3 RBIs, a double, a walk and a run scored. Aubrey Scheuler went 3.0 innings in the loss.

Haylee Jones pitched 4.2 innings with eight strikeouts in the win. Camden Sandefur homered, and Jones had a pair of doubles.

Breckinridge County 13, Trinity 6
The Lady Raiders (0-3) made a comeback bid with five runs in the fifth inning but the Lady Tigers (1-0) pulled away to win at home. Breckinridge County scored at least one run in every inning.

The Lady Tigers used two runs in the second and three in the fourth to get a big lead, then separated again with two more in the fifth and four in the sixth.
