Daviess County 14, Butler County 11

With her team trailing 11-10 in the top of the sixth inning, Sydney Howard hit a grand slam to lift the Panthers (2-0) past the Lady Bears (1-2) for a road win.

Howard went 2-for-4 with 5 RBIs, the other coming on a single during a five-run first inning. The Lady Panthers totaled 16 hits and scored in bunches, as they also put up three runs in the fourth and five in the sixth.

Millie Roberts and Emma Young each homered in the fourth inning. Young (3), Roberts (3), Howard and Savanah Northern all had multiple hits. Cameron Hamilton, Young and Northern each doubled.

Hamilton started the game for DCHS, allowing five runs on four hits in two innings. Hannah Clark earned the win, allowing eight hits and six runs and striking out eight over five innings.

Kylee Smith took the loss for Butler County, surrendering 14 runs in a complete game. Butler County scored five runs in the first and three each in the fourth and fifth innings.

Owensboro Catholic 12, Muhlenberg County 2
Hannah Carter hit for the cycle and went 4-for-4 as the Lady Aces (2-0) used a steady attack in a road win over the Lady Mustangs (0-3). Owensboro Catholic finished with 15 hits, with seven going for extra bases.

Camille Conkright also homered, while Taylor Dukate, Danielle Henning and Bailey Simone each doubled. Isabella Henning and Simone both had two RBIs, and Isabella Henning scored three times.

Danielle Henning, Hadley Phelps, Carter and Conkright crossed the plate two times each. Conkright and Isabella Henning logged three hits a piece and Danielle Henning had two.

Lexi Hatchett earned the win after giving up seven hits and striking out eight through six innings.

Jasper (Ind.) 5, Apollo 4
The E-Gals (1-1) went ahead in the top of the seventh inning but Jasper responded with three runs in the bottom half to pick up the win at home.

Jasper took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning, and Apollo got one run back in the sixth. The E-Gals added three runs in the final frame before Jasper answered.

Keely Eans took the loss in a complete-game effort, giving up nine hits and striking out seven. Mia Werner got the win for Jasper after giving up 10 hits and striking out three in seven innings.

Madison Shemwell and Hallie Wilson each went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Apollo offense. Shemwell also scored a run, and Wilson had two RBIs. Eans scored twice, while Mattie Lyons had two RBIs.

McLean County 22, Owensboro 5 (6 innings)
The Lady Devils (0-2) held hung close through four frames before the Lady Cougars (2-1) pulled away to win in six innings.

Owensboro got two hits from Maddie Poole, while Aubrie Schueler and Lindsey Gibson each had a triple. Hadley Hughes took after pitching the final four innings.

The Lady Cougars were led by three hits and six runs from Ashley Vaught. Sarah Linville (4 hits) and Kamryn McMahon (3 hits) also had big days at the plate. Taylor Galloway earned the pitching victory.

Hancock County 14, Trinity 4 (6 innings)
The Lady Raiders (0-4) weren’t able to overcome an 11-run third inning by the Lady Hornets (1-1), and Trinity dropped the final contest of their four-game road stretch to start the year.

Hancock County’s Haley McFarling hit two home runs in the fifth inning, while Ella Staples hit one of her own in the second. Shelby Harpenau and Haley Wiggington each doubled.

Trinity’s offense was led by Savannah Aull (3 hits, 2 runs), Cassidy Morris (3 hits, run) and Katherine Hibbitt (2 hits). Nina Wathen had a double.
