The offense started rolling early and Hadley Phelps was perfect in the circle as the Owensboro Catholic softball team cruised to a 15-0 win in three innings against Owensboro on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Aces (8-5, 4-0) won their fourth game in a row and remained perfect in 9th District action, while the Lady Devils (2-11, 0-4) are still searching for a district win.

Catholic head coach Jeremy Phelps said his team was ready to go from the opening pitch after they earned a comeback win over Apollo the night before.

“It carried over from last night,” he said. “The hitting was right there. They were a little bit more focused and they came in confident. They hit the ball well and were seeing the ball well.”

Camille Conkright got the Lady Aces started with a bunt for a hit, and back-to-back singles by Isabella and Danielle Henning put the first run on the board. Catholic eventually batted around and finished with 5 runs in the opening frame.

Conkright again got on base to start the second — this time drawing a walk — and scored on a triple by Isabella Henning. With a 7-0 lead after two innings, Hadley Phelps struck out the side in the top of the third.

In the bottom of the inning, Bailey Simone grounded into the second out but drove in a run to stretch the lead to 13-0. After two more singles, Lauren Hoover drove in Taylor Dukate for the final run.

Hadley Phelps didn’t allow a runner and finished with four strikeouts. She, Conkright and both Henning sisters finished with two hits and two runs scored each. Danielle Henning had a double and drove in four runs, and Hadley Phelps drove in three. Simone had two RBIs and Dukate scored twice.
