BASEBALL RECAP
Owensboro Catholic 18, Trinity 1 (4 innings)
The Aces (8-6) had no trouble getting past the Raiders (3-8) for a four-inning win in the semifinals of the 3rd Region All “A” Tournament held at Hancock County.

Winning pitcher Sam McFarland went three innings and struck out nine batters, giving up one unearned run on two hits. Everett Munsey struck out the side in the fourth.

The Catholic offense was led by Luke Scales, who went 4-for-4 with three doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored, while Andrew Wiman went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

The bats were hot early for Owensboro Catholic, who plated four runs each in the first three innings before scoring six in the fourth. The Aces finished with 18 hits and six doubles. Luke Evans (3 hits, 4 runs, 3 RBIs), Finley Munsey (3 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) and McFarland (2 hits, 3 runs, RBI) also had solid days at the plate.

For the Raiders, Briar Roberts doubled to score Kevin Foster, and Landon Huff had the only other hit. Foster took the loss on the mound.

SOFTBALL RECAPS
Trinity 10, McLean County 9
The Lady Raiders (2-10) overcame five errors and held off a late rally by the Lady Cougars (2-7) to get a victory at home in the semifinals of the 3rd Region All “A” Classic.

Nina Wathen had a two-run homer in the fourth inning and hit a three-run double in the first to finish with five RBIs. Wathen, Brittany Booker and Savannah Aull each scored twice.

Winning pitcher Katherine Hibbitt went the full seven innings, giving up nine runs (seven unearned) on 10 hits.

After McLean County scored five runs in the top of the first, Trinity went in front with six runs in the bottom of the inning. Trinity took a 10-7 lead into the seventh inning but the Lady Cougars nearly tied the game. McLean County scored two and had bases loaded with two outs before a ground out ended the game.

Henderson County 11, Apollo 0 (6 innings)

A two-out error by the E-Gals (5-6) led to eight unearned runs in the first inning, and the Lady Colonels (15-0) rolled the rest of the way in a six-inning win to stay perfect on the season.

Apollo only collected three hits, with two coming from Madison Lowe and one from Brooke Brown. Mattie Lyons took the loss, giving up three hits in 0.2 innings while allowing eight unearned runs.

TENNIS RECAPS
Apollo 9, Daviess County 0 (Girls)
Daviess County 7, Apollo 2 (Boys)
The Apollo girls’ had a dominant showing at Moreland Park, sweeping Daviess County 9-0. Singles winners were Macy Dame, Mia Lampert, Madalyn Hyland, Lauren Clements, Caitlyn Blandford and Brooklyn Knight, while doubles victories came from Blandford/Madalyn Hyland, Clements/Lynzy Schwartz and Gracie Cart/Anna Hyland.

On the boys’ side, the Panthers came away as 7-2 victors in a close match with Apollo. Singles winners for Daviess County were George Halse, Dylan McDuffee, Ryota Takahashi, Luke McClelland and Graham Sandefur. Doubles wins came from Halse/Takahashi and McClelland/Sandefur.

Victors for Apollo were Michael Chapman in singles and Ryan Ash/Chapman in doubles.


Owensboro 7, Ohio County 2 (Boys)
The Red Devils rolled to a 7-2 win over Ohio County at the Owensboro Tennis Complex. Singles wins came from Mitchell Douglas, Clayton Rhoads, Isaac Nalley, and Paxton Jenkins. OHS swept doubles play with victories by AJ Iracane/Grayson McFarland, Rhoads/Nalley and Cameron Thompson/Jenkins.


Owensboro Catholic 9, Henderson County 0 (Girls)
Henderson County 5, Owensboro Catholic 4 (Boys)
The Owensboro Catholic girls controlled the day from top to bottom in a 9-0 win at Ohio County, while the boys’ team came up just short in a 5-4 loss.

For the girls, singles winners were Sarah Kate Young, Emmy Moore, Alyssa Gatten, Olivia Hayden, Reagan Fulkerson and Ella Grace Buckman, while doubles victories came from Gatten/Olivia Hayden, Katie Riney/Maddie Hayden and Elizabeth Hayden/Rachel Traylor.

Boys’ singles victors were Davis Brocato, Brett Conder and Cooper Danzer, while Conder/Garrison Danzer picked up a doubles win.
