The Daviess County girls’ track and field team tied for first place Friday night at the Henderson County Invitational in a field of 14 schools, and Owensboro earned second place in the boys’ competition.
The Owensboro Catholic girls took third, while Apollo and Owensboro finished eighth and ninth, respectively. On the boys’ side, Apollo was third, Daviess County fourth and Owensboro Catholic sixth for a strong local showing.
Helping the Lady Panthers take a share of their top spot were their relay performances. They took first in the 4×800, second in the 4×400 and third in the 4×200. The Lady Aces finished first in the 4×100.
In the boys relays, Apollo claimed first in the 4×800 and second in the 4×400, while Daviess County took third in both races. Owensboro finished second and Owensboro Catholic was third in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays
