Monday’s action:
• Lady Aces fall in tough battle with Webster County
• Wathen powers Lady Raiders to home victory

Webster County 2, Owensboro Catholic 1
The Lady Aces (10-9) came up just short at home against the Lady Trojans (21-5) and their ace pitcher Karlie Keeney. Each team only managed four hits in the game, while Keeny recorded 10 strikeouts.

Webster County was the first to score, using a two-RBI single in the fifth inning to go in front. Catholic was able to get one back in the sixth inning when Hadley Phelps grounded out to third, allowing Isabella Henning to score on the throw.

Hannah Carter went 2-for-3 for half of the team’s hits. Starting pitcher Lexi Hatchett took the loss in 4.1 innings of work, giving up both runs on four hits and striking out four. Phelps pitched 2.2 innings of relief with no hits and two strikeouts.

Trinity 12, Grayson County 7
Nina Wathen went 4-for-4 with a three-run homer to lift the Lady Raiders (7-12) to a victory against the Lady Cougars (5-20). Avery Barnett added a two-run shot and Katherine Hibbitt had a solo shot in a 14-hit day for Trinity.

Trailing 3-1, the Lady Raiders scored six runs in the third inning to take the lead for good. The teams combined for 13 errors that led to 12 unearned runs.

Barnett, Hibbitt and McKenzie Roberts each finished with two hits. Cassidy Morris and Brittney Booker each doubled. Barnett and Georgia Howard each scored twice, while every other Lady Raider in the lineup crossed the plate once.

Wathen also pitched a complete game in the win, giving up seven runs (five unearned) on eight hits.
