SOFTBALL RECAPS
Apollo 9, Butler County 2
The E-Gals (14-12) built a big lead and rolled to a home victory over the Lady Bears (21-10) in Apollo’s final game of the regular season.

Winning pitcher Madison Julian only gave up one hit and no runs in five innings. The E-Gals used a four-run fourth inning to build a 9-0 lead before Butler County scored two in the sixth.

Brooke Brown led the Apollo offense, going 3-for-4 with two runs and a pair of RBIs. Julian, Lauren Whitehouse and Keely Eans each added two hits. Whitehouse drove in three runs and courtesy runner Mallory Velotta scored three times.

Daviess County 11, Mater Dei 2
Both offenses had hot bats, but the Lady Panthers (18-12) capitalized on their chances to pick up a win at home. Mater Dei collected 13 hits, but their only runs came on a pair of solo home runs in the third inning.

Daviess County used three runs each in the first and second innings to take an early advantage, then added five more in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

Savanah Northern went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs to lead the DC offense. Others with a strong day at the plate were Kelsey Whistle (3-for-3, 2 runs, RBI, double), Abby Newman (2-for-4, 3 RBIs, run), and Emily Stanley (2-for-3, 3 RBIs, double).

Greysee Whiteker got the win, giving up two runs on eight hits through 2.2 innings. Stanley closed out the game, striking out four and allowing five hits.

Ohio County 14, Trinity 1 (5 innings)
After scoring the first run of the game, the Lady Raiders (13-14) fell into a big hole and couldn’t recover in a loss on the road to the Lady Eagles (12-12).

The lone run for Trinity came in the top of the first. McKenzie Roberts was hit by pitch to lead off the game and later scored on a ground out by Katherine Hibbitt. Ohio County responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame and added seven runs in the second inning.

Hibbitt took the loss, giving up nine runs on seven hits in 1.2 innings.

BASEBALL RECAPS
Apollo 3, Henderson County 0
Jakob Helms pitched a complete-game shutout to lead the Eagles (16-15) to a home victory over the Colonels (19-14) in Apollo’s final game of the regular season. All three runs came in the first inning.

The first run came on a double by Evan Hodskins that drove in Max Holder. Josh Maddox and Hodskins also added runs by scoring on passed balls. Hodskins also had a single later in the game.

Helms gave up four hits in the win.

Ohio County 7, Trinity 4
The Raiders (4-18) came up short in a road loss to the Eagles (19-15) in Trinity’s final game of the regular season. Full stats were not available.
