For the first time in nearly three decades, the Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team has an Academic All-American, with the honor going to Meredith Daunhauer — one of the most decorated Panthers in program history.

Daunhauer has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division II Softball Third Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America .

Daunhauer joins Stacey Ferguson as the second Academic All-America selection in program history.  Ferguson was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Academic All-America team in 1992.

This season, Daunhauer collected 78 hits in 168 at bats. Her .464 batting average ranked second in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and 14th nationally.  Her hit total also ranked second in the conference standings while 78 hits sits 12th in the country.

The senior held a 3.88 grade point average, majoring in Elementary Education while capping off one of the top careers in Kentucky Wesleyan softball history.  Daunhauer finishes atop the Panther record books in eight statistical categories and ranks in the top 10 in an additional four.  Daunhauer also holds six single-season records and finished in the top 10 an additional 16 times.

Daunhauer also left a mark in the G-MAC career record book, ranking first in hits (330) and stolen bases (135).  She also ranks second in league history with a .438 career batting average.

The Evansville, Ind., native had a prolific career in purple, becoming the second Panther in program history to earn All-Conference honors all four years and the first to do so in the G-MAC era.  She completes her career with four Academic All-G-MAC honors, four All-Region honors including two her junior season, one All-America selection, two Google Cloud Academic All-District selections and one Google Cloud Academic All-America honor.
