Owensboro won both ends of a doubleheader Tuesday night against the Paducah Chiefs, keeping the RiverDawgs atop the Ohio Valley League East Division standings.

Late rallies helped Owensboro (10-5) earn both wins, and they followed up a 7-4 victory with a 7-6 win in their road contests.

The RiverDawgs return home Wednesday to host Paducah (8-10) at 7 p.m. at Chautauqua Park.

Game 1 – Owensboro 7, Paducah 4
The RiverDawgs got a pair of runs in the first and third innings but Paducah slowly chipped away to tie the game 4-4 through five frames.

An RBI-single by Bailey Falkenstein and a two-run single by Josh Bennet put Owensboro on top in the seventh inning, and pitcher Drake Hamil retired Paducah in order in the bottom half to record the save.

Falkenstein also had a solo home run, finishing with three runs and an RBI. Kyle Hogwood went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while Bennet went 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Pitcher Bo Robinson got the win in 1.2 innings on the mound.

Game 2 – Owensboro 7, Paducah 6
Most of the action came in the eight inning, as the RiverDawgs plated five runs in the top half before Paducah nearly erased the deficit with four of their own. All nine runs came with two outs on the board.

Owensboro used a string of hits to keep runners on base. Back-to-back two-RBI hits by Parker Stahlman and Hogwood were followed by an RBI single by Blaine Gillim for a quick five-run rally.

Paducah then capitalized on a pair of errors by the RiverDawgs, and a two-run homer got them within a run of forcing another inning. Owensboro pitcher Holden Martin was finally able to get a popout to end the game and earn the save. Hamil got the win in one inning of action.

Kirk Liebert was 2-for-2 with a run, while Stahlman and Michael Wymann each added two hits. Hogwood scored twice and drove in two, and Stahlman had two RBIs.
