After a week-long hiatus from games due to poor weather and field conditions, the Owensboro RiverDawgs walked off with win at home Saturday night in their return to action.

Owensboro’s Kirk Liebert scored the winning run on a single by Bailey Falkenstein as the RiverDawgs beat the Henderson Flash 5-4 in a game that was moved from Henderson to Chautauqua Park.

Owensboro twice fought back from one-run deficits, largely thanks to a hot bat from Kyle Hogwood. He went 3-for-5 and drove in a pair of runs, with his two-RBI triple giving the team their first lead at 2-1 in the second inning.

After Owensboro added another run in the third inning, the Flash went back in front with a three-run fifth frame. Liebert scored his first run of the night in the seventh inning, tying the game at 4-4.

Still tied in the ninth inning, the Flash got their first two runners on, but winning pitcher Drake Hamil induced a groundout and struck out the next two batters to get out of the jam. Liebert led off the bottom half with a walk before scoring on the hit by Falkenstein.

The RiverDawgs are scheduled to play at home again today at 6 p.m. against the Madisonville Miners. It marks the beginning of a busy week for Owensboro, who will play nine games over the next seven days.
