GOLF
A handful of youth golfers were in action at Lakeshore Country Club in Madisonville for the GO Junior Golf Series.
Hannah Robbins won the Girls 11-12 (nine-hole) division with a 48. Mary Ann Lyons went to a playoff before finishing second with a 51 in the Girls 13-15 (nine-hole) division.
Jack Lashbrook (85) and Nathaniel Payne (104) both competed in the Boys 16-18 Championship division, while Luke Estes (54) played in the Boys 11-12 (nine-hole) division.
The GO Junior series will return to Owensboro on Monday with competition being held at Hillcrest Golf Course.
BASEBALL
After posting a dominant 17-7 win over the Franklin Duelers on Thursday, the RiverDawgs couldn’t get much going Friday in a 10-0 loss to the Dubois County Bombers.
In Thursday’s game, Michael Wymann homered and went 5-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs. Bailey Falkenstein went 4-for-4 — with each hit going for a double — while driving in four runs and scoring once. Kyle Hogwood (2 RBIs, 2 runs), Parker Stahlman (3 RBIs, 2 runs, triple, double) and Tarron Lawson (RBI, 3 runs, triple) each added three hits.
In Friday’s loss, Owensboro struggled at the plate and only got one hit each from Kirk Liebert (double), Josh Bennett and Tarron Lawson.
After a game at Madisonville on Saturday, the RiverDawgs wrap up a four-game road stretch Sunday at Fulton.
