RECAPS

LITTLE LEAGUE
Ashland 20, Owensboro 8
The Owensboro Southern 11U All-Star team had a tough day in the field and couldn’t overcome an early deficit, falling 20-8 to Ashland in the Kentucky State Tournament. Owensboro falls to 2-1 in pool play, which wraps up Thursday against tournament host Prestonsburg.

Ashland scored five runs in the first inning and led the rest of the way, though Southern was able to get two back in the bottom half. Ashland outscored Owensboro 6-5 in the third inning, then pulled away with eight more runs over the final two frames.

Ty Ashley led the offense, recording the only multi-hit day while also scoring twice and driving in three runs. Daveon Hinton added two RBIs, and Brody White scored twice. Fiver errors led to eight unearned runs.

OHIO VALLEY LEAGUE
Owensboro 5, Paducah 4
In their final game of the regular season, the RiverDawgs scattered just enough runs and used a walk-off sacrifice fly by Brenden Bube to pick up a 5-4 win over Paducah.

Owensboro native Kirk Liebert added a solo home run for the RiverDawgs, giving them a brief 4-3 lead in the seventh inning. Liebert scored twice, while Tarron Lawson had the only multi-hit night for Owensboro.

The RiverDawgs finish the regular season 23-14 and earn the No. 2 seed in the East Division for the Ohio Valley League Tournament. Owensboro hosts Dubois County at 7 p.m. Friday to start a best-of-three series.
