Brescia names Williams as new men’s soccer coach

Brescia University has named Cameron Williams as the new head coach of the men’s soccer program.

Williams said he looks forward to leading the Bearcats both on the field and in life.

“I would like to thank (athletic director) Brian Skortz and all of Brescia University’s administration for the opportunity to join the Bearcat family,” Williams said. “I am blessed and excited to lead this group of men to success on and off of the field. Here at Brescia we want to foster a winning culture — one that transforms lives and impacts the community in which we live.”

Williams was most recently the boys’ soccer head coach at Daphne High School in Daphne, Alabama. He has also gained collegiate coaching experience as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Mobile and LaGrange College.

At the University of Mobile, Williams assisted the team to an overall record of 44-15-5, including a fifth overall ranking in the NAIA top 25. Additionally, he helped his players achieve numerous accomplishments, including three NAIA All-Americans, 18 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) All-Conference players, 19 SSAC All-Academic players and seven Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

At LaGrange College, he helped lead a program that had 10 players earn Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) All-Academic honors, three players earn GSAC All-Conference honors and the team earn a GSAC Championship appearance.

Skortz said Brescia is excited for Williams to join the program.

“His coaching philosophy fits our department well and I look forward to his ability in building a great culture of success here at Brescia,” Skortz said. “He has tremendous passion for the game and matches that passion with a great work ethic. He will do some great things here at Brescia University and within our community.”

Williams achieved a successful playing career at LaGrange, garnering GSAC All-Conference 1st Team honors (2009-2010. He was the 2009 LaGrange College Player of the Year and Golden Boot Award Winner, and he is ranked seventh all-time in career points and goals.
