The West Kentucky Babe Ruth State Tournament begins today in Germantown for the Owensboro Daviess County 13U team.
The ODC team will face host Germantown at 6:30 p.m. CST in their first game of pool play. ODC will play again at 6 p.m. CST Friday, when they square off against Spencer County.
With only seven teams in the field, each squad automatically advances to the single-elimination tournament format after the two pool play games. Teams will be seeded based on results from Wednesday-Friday, and the elimination portion of the tournament begins Saturday with the championship set for Sunday.
ODC automatically advanced to the state competition this year since there were not enough teams for a district tournament.
The state champion will go on to play in the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament July 24-28 in Janesville, Wisc.
