The Owensboro Southern and the Daviess County All-Stars wrapped up pool play in the District 1 Tournament at Country Heights Elementary School on Monday, and each program is positioned to advance to the semifinal round in both the 12U and 11U divisions.

Southern is guaranteed to advance in both age groups. The 12U team finished pool play 4-0 without allowing a single run, locking in the top seed. The 11U team finished 3-1 and will be the No. 2 seed.

Both the 12U and 11U teams for Daviess County lost Monday but are currently still in position to advance after each finishing 2-2 in pool play. The 11U team will be the No. 4 seed. The 12U team will also be a No. 4 seed unless Bowling Green East — currently undefeated — loses to  Hopkinsville in the final pool play game at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The official semifinal pairings won’t be complete until other teams finish pool play Tuesday night. Semifinals will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday for both tournaments, and championships will be played Thursday.

MONDAY RECAPS
12U – Owensboro Southern 15, Hopkins County 0 (3 innings)
Southern pitcher Carter Kimmel struck out all nine batters he faced, needing only 35 pitches to pick up a dominant three-inning victory.

Owensboro scored 14 runs in the first inning, which featured a three-run homer to center field by Barrett Evans. Southern recorded nine hits in the frame, including a pair of triples and three doubles.

Jax Malone and Keagyn Rhinerson had triples, while Gray, Will Rickard and Garrett Trunell had doubles. Luke Quinn scored three times and Sean Gray crossed the plate twice, and nine others each scored once. Trunell drove in a pair of runs, and Gray had the only multi-hit day.

11U – Owensboro Southern 16, Hopkinsville 0
Ty Lillpop led Southern offensively and defensively as they easily dismissed Hopkinsville in three innings.

Lillpop started the game on the mound, where he struck out five batters in two innings. The lone baserunner reached via walk but was caught stealing in the second inning. Brayden Burger struck out two batters and retired the side in order in the third.

Offensively, Lillpop went 3-for-3 with a triple, driving in five runs and scoring twice. Ty Ashley and Jack Krampe each scored three times, while Burger and Ryleigh Logan each added two hits and two runs. Ashley was 1-for-1 with a double, a hit by pitch and a walk.

12U – Warren County North 5, Daviess County 0
A pair of errors in the first inning ended up being costly for Daviess County, as Warren County took a 3-0 lead that proved to be enough.

Each team only managed three hits and struggled to get runners on base most of the day. Daviess County’s Sean Page had two hits, while Carter Crisp added one.

11U – Warren County South 12, Daviess County 0 (4 innings)
Daviess County wasn’t able to get much offense going, and a rally in the third inning allowed Warren County to pull away.

Daviess County got one hit each from Jackson Horn and Ben Watkins. Warren County scored four runs in the second inning before adding eight more in the third frame.
