This week’s Owensboro Times sports honors go to Apollo’s Macey Brown and Daviess County’s Shane Riley.
Brown, a sophomore golfer for the E-Gals, is the Athlete of the Week after receiving the most votes in the weekly poll. Brown shot a 76 and finished in second place in the Franklin-Simpson Invitational on Saturday.
Riley, a senior running back for the Panthers, is the Football Player of the Week after earning the most votes in the weekly poll. Riley had 28 rushes for 130 yards and a touchdown in the game against Central Hardin on Friday.
Next week’s Athlete and Football Player of the Week polls will open Monday morning and run through Wednesday at 5 p.m. Nominees will be based on names and stats submitted by coaches.
Note: Winners of the weekly honors will not be eligible for nomination again.
