DC GIRLS TOP DIXIE HEIGHTS AT HOME
The Lady Panthers never trailed and used steady scoring to pick up a 4-2 win at home over Dixie Heights on opening night.
Chloe Hinchcliffe kicked off the scoring early with an assist from Kenlee Newcom. After Dixie Heights tied the score midway through the half, Avery McNeiley put DC back in front less than a minute later.
McNeiley added a second goal with an assist from Hinchcliffe, and after another score by the Colonels, Sophie Jagoe tacked on a final goal for the Lady Panthers with an assist from McNeiley.
Emma Patterson had three saves in goal, while Emma Pratt had two.
DICKENS’ HAT TRICK LEADS ACES TO ROAD WIN
Lance Dickens scored three goals and added an assist in Owensboro Catholic’s 5-0 road win over Muhlenberg County. Joe Fusco scored twice, while Austin Martin, Cole Blandford and Dominic Ranallo each had an assist.
Caleb Ranallo had two saves in goal. Catholic had 26 shots with 16 on goal. Muhlenberg County had five shots with two on goal.
APOLLO BOYS LOSE ON LAST-MINUTE GOAL
After a deadlock for nearly the entire match, visiting Warren County scored with less 38 seconds remaining to edge Apollo 1-0 in the season opener. Matt Marks finished with six saves in goal for the Eagles.
