TUESDAY’S ACTION:
• E-Gals start season with road win over Lady Colonels
• DC uses team effort to sweep Lady Maroons
• OHS holds on, takes down McLean County in 5 sets
• Trinity tops Lady Mustangs in tight match


E-GALS START SEASON WITH ROAD WIN OVER LADY COLONELS
Apollo (1-0) kicked off the season with a win at Henderson County (0-1), topping the Lady Colonels 3-1 (28-26, 19-25, 25-19, 25-21).

Leading the way for the E-Gals were Natalie Ewing (13 kills, 5 blocks) and Anslee Hopewell (9 assists, 4 aces, 4 kills, 8 digs). Other big contributors were Whitley Chambers (5 kills, 2 blocks) and Brylee Rhodes (6 blocks, 4 kills).

Apollo returns to action Friday as host of the Summer Slam, a major weekend tournament for most teams in the area.


DC USES TEAM EFFORT TO SWEEP LADY MAROONS
Daviess County (2-0) earned their second sweep in as many nights with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-22) road victory at Madisonville-North Hopkins (1-1).

The Lady Panthers got help from Kinsley Phelps, who played aggressive on the net to finish with four solo blocks, three kills and two digs.

DC also got help from Kloee Phelps (12 digs, 4 kills, 3 aces), Elizabeth Moore (12 kills, 4 digs), Ashton Johnson (9 kills, 4 aces, 3 digs), Hannah Axley (11 assists, 4 digs), Jasmine Beasley (3 kills, 3 blocks), Delaney Evans (7 digs, 2 aces), Ryann Keller (17 assists) and Chea Bowers (11 digs).

The Lady Panthers will play again at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Ohio County.


OHS HOLDS ON TO TAKE DOWN MCLEAN COUNTY IN 5 SETS
Owensboro (1-1) bounced back from a tough third set to earn a 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 8-25, 25-17, 15-10) victory at McLean County (0-1).

Krystell Pappas (10 assists, 8 kills, 3 digs 2 aces) and Kennedy Thompson (13 assists, 2 kills, 2 digs) led the way for the Lady Devils. Also helping out were Jersie Rhineburger (9 digs, 3 aces), Lainey Hayden (6 kills, 2 blocks) and Armanda Pappas (7 kills).

Owensboro is off until Friday, when they play in the Apollo Summer Slam.


TRINITY TOPS LADY MUSTANGS IN TIGHT MATCH
Trinity (1-0) traveled for their season opener, beating Muhlenberg County (1-1) in a narrow 3-0 (28-26, 25-22, 25-21) victory on the road. Taylor Pedley and Abby Payne played two crucial positions in the back row that helped set up the offense and scoring.

Leaders for the Lady Raiders were Josie Aull (16 assists), Morgan Kinsey (10 kills), Abby Payne (5 aces), Cassidy Morris (5 blocks) and Jenna McDowell (4 blocks).

Trinity will return to action Friday in the Apollo Summer Slam.
