Catholic’s Edge, DC’s Taylor earn OT sports honors

This week’s Owensboro Times sports honors go to Owensboro Catholic’s Hagan Edge and Daviess County’s Ainsley Taylor.

Edge, a senior wide receiver/running back/defensive back for the Aces, is the Football Player of the Week after earning the most votes in the weekly poll. Edge finished with five total touchdowns in a 36-18 win over Daviess County. He had 15 touches for 157 yards and four touchdowns on offense, and he returned an interception 73 yards for another score.

Taylor, a junior cross country runner for the Lady Panthers, is the Athlete of the Week after receiving the most votes in the weekly poll. Taylor finished 7th overall individually with a time of 19:53.31 to lead team to first place in the Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic.

Next week’s Athlete and Football Player of the Week polls will open Monday morning and run through Wednesday at 5 p.m. Nominees will be based on names and stats submitted by coaches.

Note: Winners of the weekly honors will not be eligible for nomination again.
