DC beats Apollo, Catholic tops OHS in district finales

Bree Owen scored four quick goals for Daviess County in a 10-0 route of Apollo, while Owensboro Catholic pulled away in the second half for a 5-0 win over Owensboro in the girls’ soccer regular season district finales on Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers (14-2, 6-0 9th District) finished atop the district standings, followed by the Lady Aces (6-4-1, 4-2), the Lady Devils (3-6, 2-4) and the E-Gals (0-9, 0-6).

Daviess County 10, Apollo 0
Owen scored three times in the first four minutes — adding a fourth goal in the ninth minute — and the Lady Panthers went on to score six more to end the game at the half.

Hannah Hurt, Steeley Walker, Emma Winstead, Elizabeth Collier, Sophie Jagoe and Chloe Hinchcliffe added one goal each. Assists came from Hinchcliffe (4), Ashlyn Payton 2, Hurt and Jagoe.

Owensboro Catholic 5, Owensboro 0
Catholic only managed to take a 1-0 lead into the half, but four goals in the second period allowed them to pull away.

Lily Moore scored two goals that came four minutes apart midway through the second half, while Ella Goetz scored twice in the final two minutes. Ashton Logsdon had the only score of the first half. Assists came from Logsdon (2), Moore and Katie Riney.

Megan Goodwin finished with four saves in goal for the Lady Aces, while Chandler Worth had 19 for the Lady Devils.
