DCHS, DCMS, BMS post strong finishes at Marshall County

The Daviess County girls’ and boys’ cross country teams each took second place Saturday in the Marshall County Invitational. The DC middle school team swept the individual titles to lead strong team finishes, while Burns Middle School claimed first among girls and sixth among boys.

HIGH SCHOOL
West Plains (Missouri) took the title in both races, scoring 25 points in the girls’ race and 52 in the boys’ race. DC scored 57 and 82, respectively.

Leading the DC girls was Ainsley Taylor, who finished fourth with a time of 20:23.34. Other scoring runners were Emily Rempe (6th, 20:32.47), Emily Ann Roberts (9th, 20:52.99), Lauren Howe (18th, 22:06.60) and Kayley Payne (20th, 22:19.36).

The boys were led by Brady Terry (10th, 17:21.15) and Alex Adams (11th, 17:22.19), and other scoring runners were Justin Shelton (17th, 17:45.65), Caleb Tidwell (20th, 17:50.55) and Bryson McGary (24th, 17:57.90).

Owensboro also competed in the event. The boys’ team finished 13th and were led by Nathanael Turner (18th, 17:48.44), while the girls did not have enough for a full but were led by Ashely Colburn with a time of 22:56.41.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
The BMS girls scored 31 points to claim first place, edging DCMS (38 points). The DCMS boys (93 points) finished fifth, one spot ahead of BMS (117 points).

Top 10 finishers in the girls’ race were Bentlei Stallings (1st, DCMS), Lucy Spaw (2nd, BMS), Ellie Girten (3rd, DCMS), Sally Tidwell (4th, DCMS), Blakely Greer (5th, BMS), Natalie Winfield (6th, BMS), Adyson Mattingly (8th, BMS) and Kirii Mattingly (10th, BMS).

Top 10 finishers in the boys’ race were Nolan Kurz (1st, DCMS), Joshua Thomas (4th, BMS) and Emmitt Brock (9th, DCMS).



E-GALS COMPETE AT PIKE CENTRAL
The Apollo girls finished 10th in the Pike Central Invitational in Prestonsburg, Ind. on Saturday. Their top two finishers were Abby Rumage (34th, 23:30.42) and Ahmira Pickett (37th, 23:34.55)
