Golf recaps (Sept. 7): OCHS at All ‘A’ state; DCHS boys

SATURDAY’S GOLF ACTION:
• Payne posts two eagles, OCHS teams compete at All ‘A’ state tourney
• Love fifth, Panthers ninth in high-profile tournament


PAYNE POSTS TWO EAGLES, OCHS TEAMS COMPETE AT ALL ‘A’ STATE TOURNEY
A round featuring two eagles by Emma Payne was the highlight of the day as the Owensboro Catholic girls finished third and the boys took eight in the All “A” small-school state tournament.

Payne eagled a par 4 and a par 5, finishing seventh individually with a 76 to lead the Lady Aces. The Catholic girls finished third with a 347. Lexington Christian won with a 299, while Glasgow took second with a 338.

Abby Bahnick and Maddi Roberts each shot an 87, and Conleigh Osborne’s 97 rounded out the scoring rounds. RC Porter shot a 110.

The Catholic boys finished eight overall with a 342. Lexington Christian ran away with the team title by shooting a 3-under-par 285.

Jakob Wellman and Reece Higdon each shot a 78 to tie for 27th individually and post the low rounds for the Aces. Also scoring were Noah Johnson (92) and JT Payne (94), while Sam Mitchell finished with a 96.


LOVE FIFTH, PANTHERS NINTH IN HIGH-PROFILE TOURNAMENT
Daniel Love tied for fifth individually with a 1-under-par 71, while the Daviess County team shot 319 to finish ninth overall in the Bowling Green Invitational Tournament. Four of the six top-ranked teams in the state were in action.

Other scores for the Panthers came from Braden Whistle (80), Brady Huckleberry (82) and Nick Johnson (85).
