Chloe Hinchcliffe scored five goals and Daviess County posted their sixth shutout of the season as they cruised to a 10-0 road victory over Owensboro in 9th District play Tuesday night.

Kenlee Newcom added a pair of goals, and both girls finished with an assist for the Lady Panthers (9-1, 3-0 9th District), who have now won four consecutive contests.

The Lady Devils (2-4, 1-2) dropped their second in a row after back-to-back wins.

Newcom started off the scoring, getting a goal after a throw-in less than two minutes into the game. Hinchcliffe quickly followed with her first, scoring off an assist from Emma Winstead in the fourth minute.

Owensboro held the Lady Panthers at bay for 10 minutes before Hinchcliffe broke through again, this time punching one in after an assist from Meredith Campbell.

After a goal by Shelby Sandifer in the 19th minute, Daviess County went their longest stretch without scoring.

With a 4-0 lead and halftime approaching, the Lady Panthers quickly doubled their lead. After goals by Ashlyn Payton and Newcom, Hinchcliffe added another pair of her own.

“We all were just making wall passes,” Newcom said of the scoring flurry. “No one was standing. Everyone was moving. The wall passes were working for us and they were on point.”

Hinchcliffe added her fifth goal early in the second half. The final goal came when Avery McNeily rolled a pass from the left side into the box for an easy finish by Campbell.

Tori Beth Bayliss finished with two assists, while Newcom, Winstead, Sophie Jagoe, McNeiley, Campbell and Hinchcliffe had one each. DC’s Emma Pratt finished with one save in goal, while Owensboro’s Chandler Worth had 14.

The Lady Devils are off for a week, when they will play an away game at Apollo. The Lady Panthers are back in action today as they host Owensboro Catholic in a game that was rescheduled due to weather earlier this season.

Newcom said Tuesday’s win doesn’t mean anything as they prepare for the Lady Aces.

“We can’t assume anything going in,” she said. “We have to put this game behind us. It doesn’t matter. We have to focus on tomorrow’s game and it will be totally different. I expect it to be physical and fast-paced. They’re our rivals, so it will be a good game. We’re going to have to come out ready to play.”
