The Owensboro boys’ soccer team held a lead at half, but South Warren pulled even late and the teams finished in a 3-3 tie at Shifley Park on Wednesday.

The Spartans (11-1-1) took an early lead with a goal just less than nine minutes in, but the Red Devils responded with two quick scores to go in front.

Josh Head connected with Kevin Payne for a goal only 17 seconds after the score by South Warren, then Noah Tucker assisted on a goal by Andrew Saltsman two minutes later.

Midway through the half Head added a second assist, this time on a goal by Paxton Jenkins, and the Red Devils took a 3-1 lead into half.

South Warren added two more goals of their own with less than 15 minutes to play. Neither team was able to knock in a final go-ahead goal.

Radley Worth finished with nine saves in goal.

Owensboro will play at home again Thursday when they host Owensboro Catholic in the regular season 9th District finale for both teams.
