GIRLS
LADY DEVILS SHUT OUT APOLLO FOR DISTRICT WIN
Owensboro jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and never looked back, picking up a 5-0 road victory over 9th District foe Apollo. Ella Bratcher led the team with a pair of goals.

Also scoring for the Lady Devils (3-4, 2-3 9th District) were Arianna Faulkner, Evie Pierson and Rylee Cox. Pierson also had two assists, while Kallie Vanover and Bratcher each had one.

Goalkeeper Chandler Worth recorded two saves and posted her second shutout of the season — both coming against the E-Gals (0-8, 0-5).

“I challenged our girls to come out hungry and aggressive early,” said OHS head coach Michael Lovett. “I was extremely proud of their effort and execution as they fought hard until the very end. I hope we are able to feed off of this momentum and compete just as well in our upcoming contests.”

The Lady Devils are back in action Thursday at Henderson County. Apollo has a week off before playing at Daviess County on Tuesday.

BOYS
HEAD SCORES TWICE, OHS EDGES MAROONS
Josh Head scored a pair of first-half goals and Owensboro was able to hang on for a 2-1 victory over Madisonville-North Hopkins. The Red Devils have won five in a row (8-3-1).

One goal came off a penalty kick, while the other came from an assist by Bryson Wilkerson. Radley Worth had six saves in goal.

OHS will play at home again Thursday when they host Daviess County for a chance to move into a tie for the top seed in the 9th District.

PANTHERS TOP OHIO COUNTY AT HOME
Daviess County had just enough to earn a 1-0 victory over Ohio County at home. The Panthers (10-0-2) have won four in a row since a pair of ties.

The lone goal came from Hunter Clark with an assist from Hayden Glover. Cody Clark had one save in goal.

DC will play again Thursday at Owensboro with a chance to lock up the top seed in the 9th District.
