SATURDAY’S SOCCER ACTION:
• Red Devils win two, extend streak to 8 games
• Aces advance to quarterfinals of All ‘A’ state


RED DEVILS WIN TWO, EXTEND STREAK TO 8 GAMES
Owensboro (11-3-1) beat Simon Kenton 8-0 then topped Cooper 3-1 in the Colonel Classic at Henderson County to extend their win streak to eight games.

Against Simon Kenton, the Red Devils led 3-0 at the half then added five more goals in the second period. Grayson McFarland and Paxton Jenkins each had two goals.

Jake Hunt, Josh Head, Kevin Payne and Marcos Jimino Berrera added one score each. Assists came from Andrew Saltsman (2), Noah Tucker, Reis Dickinson, Payne and Baxter Brown. Radley Worth had four saves in goal.

Against Cooper, OHS overcame a 1-0 deficit by scoring three times in the second half. Goals came from Saltsman (assist Jenkins), Head (assist Hunt) and Payne (assist Saltsman). Worth had three saves.

Owensboro plays again Wednesday when they host South Warren.


ACES ADVANCE TO QUARTERFINALS OF ALL ‘A’ STATE
Owensboro Catholic (4-5-1) got a pair of unassisted goals from Joe Fusco, earning them a 2-1 victory at Glasgow in the All “A” Classic 3rd/4th Region qualifier. Caleb Ranallo had four saves in goal. The Aces had 20 shots with 10 on goal. Glasgow had 10 shots with six on goal.

Catholic moves on to the quarterfinals, which will be played next weekend in Frankfort. The Aces will first be back in action Monday when they host Butler County.
