Teams tied after day one of local Ryder Cup; THS boys fall on road

Teams are all square after day one of the local Ryder Cup, a year-end event for boys’ golfers that allows them to compete in match-style play.

Golfers from Daviess County, Owensboro Catholic, Owensboro and Apollo are all mixed together to make up two teams, and the 18-hole event is divided over two days at Ben Hawes.

Monday’s round was played on the back nine holes, and each team earned 3.5 of 8 possible match-play points.

Tuesday’s round will be played on the front nine holes as singles matches.

TRINTY FALLS IN FINAL MATCH OF SEASON
The Trinity boys’ golf team wrapped up the regular season Monday with a road match at Hancock County, where they fell 203-206. Scoring came from Landon Huff (42), Blake McBrayer (50), Aaron Howard (57) and Nate Hernandez (57).
