TUESDAY’S VOLLEYBALL ACTION:
• E-Gals sweep OHS in district acition
• Trinity rallies from 0-2 deficit for five-set win


E-GALS SWEEP OHS IN DISTRICT ACITION
Apollo rolled through the first two sets before a narrow win in the third to earn a 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 28-26) home victory over Owensboro in 9th District play.

“It was a good district win for us tonight,” said Apollo head coach MaryAnne Howard. “Owensboro was very tough and scrappy. Our serving and defense helped lead the way for us. We will continue to build on these things as we prepare for our varsity tournament in Taylor County this weekend.”

The E-Gals (9-2, 1-1 9th District) were led by Hallie Wilson (10 aces, 9 digs), Anslee Hopewell (11 assists), Whitley Chambers (10 kills), Maddi Boswell (7 kills) and Tallie Satterfield (4 kills, 3 assists).

The Lady Devils (4-12, 0-2) were led by Krystell Pappas (15 assists, 9 digs, 3 aces), Lainey Hayden (7 digs, 7 blocks, 6 kills), Mykael Winstead (11 digs, 4 kills,4 blocks), Jersie Rhineburger (14 digs) and Armanda Pappas (5 kills).

Owensboro (4-12, 0-2) will return home Thursday to host Trinity. Apollo will play Friday and Saturday in the Taylor County Throw-Down.


TRINITY RALLIES FROM 0-2 DEFICIT FOR FIVE-SET WIN
The Lady Raiders fought back from a two-set deficit and earned a road victory over McLean County with a 3-2 (19-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-9) victory.

“Tonight we started off a little rocky but eventually got going in the direction for us to make a comeback,” said Lady Raiders head coach Daniel Morris. “McLean County was aggressive and smart with their swings, which led to some long rallies throughout the night. My back row definitely stepped it up when we needed them to and put on a great performance.”

Abby Payne set a school record with 33 digs to help lead Trinity (6-8). Other leading contributors were Josie Aull (21 assists, 13 digs, 4 kills), Taylor Pedley (30 digs, 2 aces, 2 assists), Cassidy Morris (13 digs, 3 aces, 3 kills) and Morgan Kinsey (13 kills, 4 digs).

The Lady Raiders also got help from Avery Barnett (7 digs, 5 aces, 2 assists), Hannah Nash (7 kills, 6 digs), Lexie Barnett (10 digs), Jenna McDowell (4 kills) and Josie Booker (3 digs).

Trinity will play again Thursday when they make the short trip to Owensboro.
