The Owensboro Catholic girls’ and boys’ basketball teams make their return this week to the All “A” Classic state tournament at Eastern Kentucky University’s McBrayer Arena in Richmond.

GIRLS
The Lady Aces won the girls’ All “A” state title last year and are making their 14th appearance in the last 15 years. They’ve finished runner-up once and fallen in the semifinals five times.

Catholic (13-7) will have a tough first-round game today at 4 p.m. against Bishop Brossart (18-1), who won the 10th Region All “A” tournament.

The winner will advance to Friday’s 10:30 a.m. quarterfinal against the winner of an opening-round game between Knott County Central (12-7) and Murray (8-9).

If Catholic advances to the semifinals, they would play at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The girls’ championship is set for 11 a.m. Sunday.

BOYS
The Aces are making their fourth consecutive trip to the boys’ state tournament. They’ve fallen in the opening round the last two seasons after advancing to the quarterfinals in 2017.

Catholic (12-6) will play at 7:30 a.m. Thursday against West Carter (9-7), who won the 16th Region All “A” tournament.

The winner will advance to Friday’s 4 p.m. quarterfinal against the winner of an opening-round game between Bishop Brossart (15-2) and Frankfort (8-12).

If Catholic advances to the semifinals, they would play at 5 p.m. Saturday. The boys’ championship is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
