University of Kentucky football star Kash Daniel made a visit to Owensboro Saturday night to meet with faithful fans and sign autographs for them at Legend’s Sports Bar and Grill.
The inside linebacker for the Wildcats was appreciative of the opportunity to meet with some devoted supporters.
“I love getting to see everybody,” Daniel said. “It’s good to come out here to the people and see where they’re from and see where they hangout.”
One Kentucky football fan who lives in Owensboro spent her Saturday outside Legend’s for the opportunity to meet her favorite player.
Cara Smith was one of the first people in line, and she had a special connection with the Paintsville native.
“We moved to Owensboro last year from Eastern Kentucky, so getting to see someone from my area succeed at UK was great,” Smith said. “You always love getting to see a hometown boy thrive. I’ve always looked up to him. I just want to let him know how much I’m going to miss him on the team and how he’s been my favorite. I knew he was my favorite player after the first time I saw him play.”
Daniel spoke about how special it was to him as a Kentucky native to get to meet with his fans.
“It means the world to me as a Kentuckian to hear people’s stories and put a smile on their face,” he said.
The two-year team captain finished his career at Kentucky with over 165 total tackles, including eight in his final game against Virginia Tech in the Belk Bowl.
With his time as a Wildcat now over, Daniel now has his sights set on making it to the next level.
“Right now, I’m training to go to the NFL Pro Day at Kentucky and hopefully I can make a team,” he said. “If I’ve gotta play special teams my whole career, then that’s what I’ll do.”
Smith is excited for an opportunity to see Daniel play in the NFL, saying:
“I’m going to have a new favorite team whenever Kash gets drafted or signed next season.”
