Trinity drops district doubleheader at home

The Trinity girls’ and boys’ basketball teams each came up short in their home game against 12th District foe Edmonson County on Friday night.

The girls’ held a halftime lead but eventually fell 59-45, while a late push by the boys’ team wasn’t enough in a 64-59 loss.

GIRLS – ECHS 59, THS 45
Trinity turned a three-point deficit after the first quarter into a 23-22 advantage by halftime. They were outscored 15-5 in the third period and couldn’t make up any ground in the fourth.

Cassidy Morris led all scorers with 23 points, going 13-for-18 at the free throw line. Also scoring for the Lady Raiders were Hadley Hatfield (4), Josie Aull (4), Kenzie McDowell (4), Morgan Kinsey (4), Katherine Hibbitt (4) and Allie Graham (2).

BOYS – ECHS 64, THS 59
The Raiders fell behind by five after the first period and the gap grew to 35-23 by halftime. Landon Hall scored nine of Trinity’s 16 third-quarter points to trim the deficit by two. The Raiders ran out of time with their fourth-quarter comeback bid.

Hall led the team with 15 points, and Denver Dickens added 10. Also scoring were Kevin Foster (9), Ethan Howard (8), Brenden Wathen (7), Will Edge (6), Nathan Hernandez (3) and Ben Goetz (1).
