Owensboro Catholic’s Cort Hobelmann finished sixth in one event and 14th in another in the state swim meet Saturday, leading the way as the Aces finished in a tie for 24th overall as a team.

Hobelmann earned sixth place in the 100 freestyle with a championship heat time of 48.50. He finished 14th in the 100 backstroke with a consolation heat time of 48.50.

Hobelmann was also part of the 200 medley relay team — along with Nolan Igleheart, Jack Raymer and Jude Neal — that finished tied for 15th (1:44.71).

Raymer narrowly missed out on a pair of top-16 finishes individually. His 200 freestyle time of 1:47.61 left him in 17th and was just .17 away from the No. 16 swimmer. His 100 butterfly time of 54.49 left him in 19th, just .68 behind the final consolation qualifier.

Neal placed 19th (22.60) in the 50 freestyle and was .24 seconds off the final consolation qualifying time. He also placed 30th (51.03) in the 100 free.

Catholic’s 200 free relay team of Neal, Warren Goetz, Raymer and Hobelmann finished 21st with a time of 1:34.62.

Daviess County’s Trevor Church also competed in a pair of events individually. He finished 18th (49.86) in the 100 freestyle — missing out on qualifying for the consolation heat by .09 seconds — and placed 28th (2:06.27) in the 200 IM.

The DC team of Sam Smith, Carter Heady, Gabe Neves and Church finished 32nd (3:42.97) in the 400 freestyle relay.

Apollo also competed in the 400 freestyle relay, where the team of Jan Cihlar, Keaton Leigh, Connor Satterly and Luke Mallot placed 35th (3:46.29).
