It’s not official yet, but every day the likelihood of having any sort of a spring season diminishes. So, local high schools are honoring their seniors as best they can tonight with a unique tribute.

Apollo, Daviess County and Owensboro will turn on the lights at their sports facilities for 20 minutes and 20 seconds starting at 8 p.m. Owensboro Catholic and Trinity are looking into ways of being able to recognize seniors on another night yet to be determined.

Families and friends are encouraged to drive by or drive up — depending on the location — and honk their horns as a tribute for the athletes.

No one should exit the vehicle at any time at any location.

Apollo will turn on the lights at the softball and baseball fields and the new football stadium. Fans are encouraged to drive by but are asked not to congregate.

Daviess County will be turning on the lights at the softball, baseball and football fields. Fans are being asked to park in the back lot and face the lanes, but everyone needs to stay in the vehicle.

Owensboro High School will turn on the lights at Shifley Park, the Owensboro Middle School track and Rash Stadium. Supporters may drive by any location but are asked to not stop and congregate.
