Three 9th District softball players got to represent their school one final time Tuesday in the 2020 Kentucky Prep Section All-Star Games at Woodford County.

Owensboro Catholic High School’s Danielle and Isabella Henning, along with Daviess County’s Sydney Howard, each took the field for the Section 1 squad.

The Section 1 squad (Regions 1-4) took down the all-stars from Section 4 (Regions 13-16) in the opener then fell 6-3 to Section 2 (Regions 5-8) in the championship game.

Danielle and Isabella are headed to Indiana State next year, while Howard is taking her talents to Asbury University.

Danielle hit a home run in the championship and was a gold glove winner, while Isabella was chosen for the all-section team.

The Hennings have already been back on the diamond this season as they played travel softball, but both said it was good to represent their high school one more time.

“It was nice to get on the field with high school people, some of the friends that I grew up playing with and playing against,” Danielle said. “It was nice to have something to remember our senior year for something good.”

Isabella echoed her sister’s sentiment.

“Playing against high school teammates and friends, it was just a good experience,” she said.

Danielle said while she knows the next level is getting closer, it was a different kind of feeling knowing she wouldn’t take the field again as a Lady Ace.

“It’s weird because that’s the last time I’ll ever be playing a game for high school, so it was nice to do that and play with other high school kids that I know,” she said.

Isabella said it was good to actually have Howard on the same team because usually they’ve been foes during their prep careers.

She said the friendships is what she’ll remember the most.

“I’ll just remember all the friends I’ve made my high school team and the experience of playing high school,” she said. “Playing high school is so different than travel. You just become so close with the girls.”

In about a month, both Henning’s will be in Terre Haute getting ready to start their career as Sycamores.

They each said they’re just ready to get started.

“I’m just looking forward to getting there, meeting the new teammates and just playing,” Isabella said.
