Owensboro’s Fallin, Wimsatt earn postseason accolades

Owensboro head coach Jay Fallin and Red Devil junior quarterback Gavin Wimsatt were named the Class 5A, District 1 Coach of the Year and Player of the Year on Wednesday.

Fallin helped lead the Red Devils to their first perfect regular season since 1993 as OHS has scored 465 points this season and allowed just 101 during the season.

Wimsatt is 102-of-167 for 1,640 yards with 20 touchdowns and 7 interceptions this season. He’s also ran for 308 yards and 6 touchdowns on 50 carries.

Owensboro hosts Graves County Friday in the second round of the KHSAA Class 5A State Playoffs at Rash Stadium.
